For wood, on top of the trees, grain, on the grain field, brick, in the quary part, sheep, to the side of the flock, half on the road, and between the two mountain ranges on the ore tile.Įdit, As these are made from molds i might be interested in making a few extra boards pm me if you're interested. They all have a place which is reasonable for the disks to rest. The numbers are intended to rest on flat parts of each of the tiles. I settled for leaving most of them with a relatively flat space on the tile where the number token can be place, though I might regret this is they're unstable and get knocked around easily. I like that, but found it looked odd without the numbers there. Something which I also saw in a lot of builds was a recessed circle for the numbers on each tile. Apart from the ore, the others are also roughly in scale with each other which is nice, and share colours for things like the trees and grass. Best example of this is the sheep tile, were rather than sculpt some huge sheep, I simply made them tiny bumps that are painted white, to give the impression of a flock of them. I wanted to go for more of a realistic style than some of the more cartoony Catan builds I've seen. I stuck those onto the laser cut hexagons, so that they align really well as a board, and painted them with acrylic paints and washes. From these molds I cast the detail parts in resin. To make it the parts were sculpted in clay, which was then used to make a mold with silicone. I'd had the idea for a long while, but only recently did I actually get around to making the thing. ![]() This a cross post with r/Catan for the 3D board that I built recently.
